Second Opening

We were recently given the opertunity to climb out the second opening in the Pioneer Tunnel. Now this was an adventure. Its on about a 60-70 degree pitch coal chute that you climb up on steel ladders. You climb the 400 foot chute in a vein of coal that averages between 2 and 4 feet thick. The climb takes about 20 minutes until you are finally greeted with the sunshine once again!
