Continential #190 Slope
(Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour)

The 190 Slope, Lackawanna Mine Tour is the most extensive anthracite mine tour in Northeast PA. Through the knowledgeable tour guides you will learn how anthracite was mine in the northern field. On average your tour will last about an hour. The mine stopped producing coal in 1966 and was abandoned for 20 years before being reopened be a few dedicated individuals. Now the Lackawanna Mine Tour is one of NEPA's premier tourist attractions. You will travel through 3 beds of coal and see tall as well as low workings. The airshaft/escape pod is a favorite among tourists!
